I sighed.
My aching body didn’t let me rest.
“It’s time…”
I murmured.
Spreading my wings, I stood up, but my feet almost gave away.
Looking around, I smiled.
The trees stood tall, the ancient deer herd was grazing the jade grass.
In the trees, Wisdom Owls, and many more critters looked at me with worry.
“Be well…my friends…”
I said, and started to flap my wings.
It was…tiring…
Something that used to be as easy as breathing, became a challenge.
The forest rose to life as I rose to the skies, roars, whimpers, screeches accompanying my departure.
A particular sad roar pierced my heart…
It was a drakeling I saved, and raised…
She shall be a good Guardian…
I never looked back.
I couldn’t…
It would be too hard.
I flew, slowly, and haphazardly towards my final destination.
The Graveyard of Dragons…
A holy land for us, dragons, protected by the magic of each dying dragon.
Only dragons can enter it, and only dragons can find it, as it’s hidden behind countless veils…
And even if someone manages to enter it, without being a dragon, it’s a certain death sentence.
As they would be attacked by the will of thousands, hundreds of thousands of dead dragons.
And while being dead certainly weakens us, dragons will be dragons, nobody should challenge our wills…
And soon, I saw it…
It was…peaceful…
Created by our ancestor, it’s an endless stretch of place…
At first empty, but now it’s filled with mountains, volcanoes, forests and oceans…
Each mountain, once was an Earth Dragon…
Each forest, once was a Wood Dragon…
Each volcano was one a Fire Dragon…
The oceans are the accumulated Water Dragons…
The breeze and wind are what the Wind Dragons became…
The storms, and clouds are what the Lightning Dragons became…
The ores deep in the ground are what became of the Metal Dragons…
The sun in the sky is the first born of our Ancestor…
The moon in this place is the 2nd born…
The shadows that are moving are the Shadow Dragons current form…
Each dragon has become a part of this place, becoming a part of the laws that weren’t here at first…
Soon, this place will be just as vast, and complete, as the universe outside…
Landing at the edge of one of the forests, I smiled.
“I am home…”
I murmured.
Far in the distance, I could see an old friend…
I wondered where he was in the last few centuries…
He hadn’t completely become a mountain, but he already started the transformation.
I smiled in his direction and closed my eyes.
I shall rest here.
And when my time comes, I shall become wood, and life, returning what was given to me back to the universe…
