A pile of clothes

Everyone knows about “that chair.”
You know… the chair in your room, completely covered in clothes?
That pile of clothes towering over the room, and giving it an authentic and natural vibe.
Well, how about a pile of clothes in the middle of a mountain cave?
The hikers have always known about a cave where they can take shelter from the elements on a certain mountainous path.
Recently, in the last decade or so, there have been records of a pile of clothes being seen in corner of the cave.
The clothes are sweaty and sometimes bloody, but it wasn’t anything weird or out of ordinary, as the mountainous path is rather difficult, and scratches and wounds are rather normal.
Also, the mountain is surrounded by three towns and several dozen villages, with a few missing people reports being written every single month, thus finding clothing in a rather hidden but still well-known cave is nothing strange.
If there was to name something that seems off with the pile, there are but only 2 choices.
One, it seems that the pile is ever increasing, yet nobody sees how it happens.
And two, the clothes can’t be removed from the cave, as they seem heavier and heavier, the closer one gets to the cave’s exit.
Many tried to figure out what’s going on, but nobody succeeded…that is until one village young man, decided to pursue his dream of being a great journalist.
He already decided what his first article will be.
His first article being: “Anomaly or just a prank? Why do clothes pile up in the sanctuary cave?”
The young man camped in an old, but tremendously big tree’s hollow, watching the surrounding of the cave.
He could afford camping out only for 3 days, thus if he found nothing in these days, he would need to go back to the village, and work hard for months, to save up enough food, and money to buy better camping equipment.
But the odds were in his favour, as not even three hours into his “research” a group of hikers came to rest in the cave.
This event wasn’t really out of ordinary or unexpected, but what came next, in the middle of the night was extremely terrifying and amazing.
One of the hikers came out from the cave to relieve himself.
“Will this be an uneventful night?”
The young man thought to himself, zooming in however much he could with his old camera on the man’s position.
Suddenly, a strange metallic rustling sound could be heard, and the man disappeared, but not before the young man took a picture.
The young man’s heartbeat was insane, and he felt completely weightless due to what he saw.
He needed to make sure that what he saw was real, so he hid in the hollow and waited for the sun to rise.
The area around him was eerily quiet, and he could hear his heartbeat.
He spent the night praying, not sleeping a bit.
In the morning, he quickly went to the cave, where he was welcomed by grumpy hikers, who didn’t really like the idea of being woken up by a stranger.
He went straight towards the pile of clothes, before taking out the camera and watching what he caught last night.
And indeed, upon a careful look, at the top of the pile there was a black jacket, white t-shirt and hiking pants.
Exactly the same outfit as the one the man last night was wearing.
Right then, the hikers started to be unsettled.
“Where is Mike?!…Mike! Where are you?!”
They shouted, and even questioned the young man if he saw something.
The young man simply said “blur” and pointed to the pile of clothes.
And when the hikers looked at the top of the pile they paled.
One of them went towards the pile and took the pants.
At the knee part there was a patch that was different in colour than the rest.
“It was me who patched this…when Mike fell while climbing a slippery rock, because we bet he couldn’t do it…”
One of them said.
The cave got really quiet, before everyone going each to their own way.
The young man tossed the camera into the pile of clothes before leaving, and becoming a baker in the village.
He lived a long and happy life, even becoming the village chief.
After becoming a village chief, he was kind and helpful, even using his own money to take care of the poorer villagers, but there was one thing that he never strayed from.
“Nobody should approach the mountain with the pile of clothes.”
